Headlines:  Fishing reports have been good again this week.  The lakes have provided the most reports and  Eucumbene has produced yet again with some excellent baitfishing with ,worms,Grubs and the fly fishing has been outstanding.  Jindabyne has also fired over the weekend with some great trolling

Flyfishing
Rivers:- most spawning rivers are fishing well with good numbers of Browns running up the Eucumbene and Thredbo with many reports of fisherman catching fish up to 8lb plus.
Most reports are still good many fisherman pulling out good numbers of fish the best fish pull out this week was a 12lb brown and many more over the double figures.
Best fly’s are black B/H Nymphs and Glow bugs when the Sun is going down best trying a black Woolly bugger these fly’s have been getting good Results.
Now we only have 2 weeks left till the rivers close if you are after that big fish this is the time to get up there.
Best areas to fish are all over the Eucumbene River and the Thredbo up past the hatchery and around paddys corner best Rig is a Glow Bug with a Nymph Below if you find the fish are a little spooky two Nymphs will work well.
Remember the weather can change quick so take warm clothing and let someone now where you are going best been safe Than sorry.

The high country rivers have really fished well this season with most fish caught on . Adams parachute, yellow stimulators , royal humpies , royal wullfs , elk hair caddis , red tags , Adams , Klinkhammers.
Most of the smaller steams will start getting harder to fish in the next few weeks with the colder weather moving in so get out there why you can and enjoy them why you can.
We have had a few reports up Euc river about some fisherman getting very nasty at other people fishing there holes remember the river is for everyone.
there is fish all thought the river so remember smile say G-day and have a good day :)

Hi Guys , Just wanted to drop you a note to thankyou for your good advice on Fly selection over the weekend. We fished in snow / wind/ sunshine and rain and that was just the first hour of the weekend. Whilst the fish were not there in the numbers of past years , we had a ball and my mate that has not been in the area for 30 years was really happy with his two fish over 50cm. Ive included a photo of my son with his first fish of the weekend, if you get a chance could you put it on the web?Regards David Short

Lake Eucumbene:-it’s just getting better every day.
Some very nice rainbows and Browns coming in over the last few weeks. Many people are fishing around midday and getting good results Many of these fish are taking Mrs Simpsons, Hammills Killers, B/H Nymphs black, brown, Green. lf your finding it hard to get the fish when you see them rolling around in the water this would be a good time to put a Klinkhammer on you will get good results. The rainbows seem to come in feeding close all day. The rising lake levels have really got the fish feeding so if you are going fishing on the Lake this is the time to be there around 12pm till dark. The Rainbows are getting fat and feeding on any think they can get ,snails, Midge, most reports are coming in fisherman are catching them around 10am to 7pm. Good news is the browns have been moving around as well with good reports around Yens, seven Gates, Rushys most been caught on woolly buggers black, brown, olive
Best fly’s are woolly worms, woolly buggers, B/H black Nymphs black, brown, Green, Mrs Simpsons, Klinkhammers, black woolly buggers, brown woolly buggers, when using B/H Nymphs let them sink you will get good results.
Best areas to fish are Rushys, seven gates, Yens, Buckenderra,
Remember the fish have been feeding all day so get out there and have a good day my best tip is on the lake with a Klinkhammer or Mrs Simpson the Browns and Rainbows are going mad, there fat and hitting hard. more good reports are coming from around Rushys and seven gates using black woolly bugger, black Nymphs with a very slow retrieve. Most fish are still rolling around on top off the water so when you see this the best fly to use is a Klinkhammer Olive we have been getting good Results.
This lake is going to be fishing well all winter so when the rivers closes we are all still going to get some good fish so plan your trip and be ready for a great winter.

48cm Brook Trout caught and released on the thredbo river.

Lake Jindabyne:-had some good reports from Jiny on the west side on the fly with woolly buggers black, brown, Mrs Simpsons, Hammills Killer. Are picking up some good fish so if you do get some fish from Jiny sent some photos to.info@alpineangler.com.au
Tantangara:- good reports are starting to come out of the great Lake the fly fisherman are picking up some good rainbows and browns best fly’s are Woolly Worm black, Mrs Simpsons, Woolly Buggers black, Olive, brown.

Giday Mick,and Ray

Caught around 20 fish on the new Sage rod and Lamson reel including 1 x 6 pound brown and 2 x 3 pound rainbows.
Very happy with the rod and the wide range of casting situations the blank is capable of, I would have to be honest and say this rod's taper seems more
versatile in a wider range of casting situations than the Loomis IMX I lost.
Had a great trip with around 24 good quality fish, and I didn't really chase em hard this trip.
Thanks for the great service and advice.

Baitfishing :- worms, Grubs and power bait . These are without doubt the best bait in Eucumbene at present
The bait reports have been out of control!
There have been some good hatches this week and the fish are well and truly on them. The last hour or two of daylight have been the best but you will get fish right through the day. We have been getting good reports off browns taking Grubs and worms the Rainbows are still going on power Bait best colours are Rainbow, chunky cheese, sherbert, fl orange
Chunky cheese has been getting good fish with a worm dropper + worms under a bubble has been good.
last few reports have been good worms, Grubs and power bait Have been picking up some good fish try a worm under a bubble float you will be surprised how well it works.
best place to fish is seven gates, yens, Anglers Reach, Middlinbank, yens bay, old Adaminaby.
Remember if you are not getting any fish with the power bait change your leader longer or shorter.
This week’s best bait has been Grubs good numbers of fish have been caught.

Hi guys,we fished Cemetery Point last weekend for 11 rainbows and 1 brown. All were caught on powerbait as we couldn't worms there.Sherbert burst and orange seemed to work best. All the fish were around 30cm and in great condition, the rainbows fought very well!Still no fish at night!!

Shayne from Canberra.

Hi guys,

Went up camping to jindy with the kids, had a great time; however the fish were slow on the bite.
I have attached a photo of my son Alexandros Diamond and his good friend
Constantine Nikias with a three pond brown, which made there night!

Thanks,

George Diamond

Trolling and Spinning
Eucumbene:- Reports from the lake have picked up.Launching access is available at Old Adaminaby, Anglers Reach, Dam Wall and Buckenderra . With cooler conditions there should be a few more fish taking shallow running minnows and Tassie Devils, strike pro blades and X-Rap Rapalas, RMG Scorpions, strike pro blades most fish have been Caught though most of the day. Mostly flat line Tassie’s and small minnows. There are fish in close and on top early in the day but as the sun gets up going wider and deeper is the best bet.
Tassie’s in, YELLOW WINGS, 99,100,108,79,06,97,11most of the new Tassie are getting some good fish. and any of the yellow wing patterns have been excellent S12 is working well. Dual Depth versions are a good option for getting down a fraction deeper. Best Stinger Lures are 5,23,17,10,8,6,21,16,25best in the Lofty’s Cobra Lures are 21,23,65,11,1,70,41good time to start using rainbow Squidgys with a 2gram jig head
RMG Scorpions in any colour have really caught some fish of late.
Best areas have been Anglers Reach, Seven Gates, Waiunui, Collingwood, Coppermine and Main basin.
The new Tassie’s are looking pretty good and they are getting some good fish.
Trolling Jindy has picked up with good numbers of Atlantic Salmon been Caught around the mouth of the Thredbo river on sting Lures Reaching up to 11lb.

The new tassies are looking pretty good and they are getting some good fish.

Still great fishing even with the temperature dropping and the snow falling at Buckenderra I can only keep saying the power bait has been incredible Chunky cheese and  orange salmon eggs the rainbows are loving it anytime during the day there hasn’t been to many unhappy fisherman even mudeyes are stilling getting a few from the bank. Trolling is a little slower although some of the boys done well on red and black Tassie devils as well as the gold wing the largest caught was a 3lb rainbow. Spinning from the bank have been 4 gm lofty’s Louie has been doing really well with them. We had John our trout festival winner here this week he said it was tough fly fishing he caught 7 rainbows all very healthy on small nymphs but he had to work hard for them.  That’s it from Buckenderra  have a great week.

Regards
Terri
