EUCUMBENE FLY FISHING

Fishing around the lake is ok at the moment with some good rainbows still coming in close now with less yabbies the rainbows are looking for whatever they can get this is why i love winter fishing so do not think that winter is here the fishing is slow to me its the best no need to go out early start around 10am till about 3pm the flies i use are bead head nymphs, fuzzy wuzzy’s, Mrs Simpsons and woolly Buggers with a really slow retrieve.

 

JINDABYNE LAKE

Fishing is much the same as eucumbene fish slow use the same flies you should do well. But jindabyne is at its best this time of year the water is clear and the fish are close this is where I’ll be heading sight fishing is at it’s best the fish are not as spooky, fish about the same time 10am till 3pm on a nice sunny day,

My best spots are east jindy and around at poo bay or around any little creeks that are running in that is where you will find the rainbows.

Peter at Braemar here with a fishing report for the June Long weekend.


Well the weather God’s once again tried their best to upset anglers, strong winds and drizzle were the order of the day on Saturday making it impossible to get out and about, dirty water and poor visibility kept most people in their cabins, come Sunday the weather had improved significantly and most people were out trolling or fishing the banks, Eric Dennehy and Victor trolled Tassie’s # 44, #51 and # 56 for a Brown and Rainbow each and also bait fished with worms and power bait for no result, however Eric did catch 2 nice Browns flicking lures from the bank around near the dam wall.


The Reade gang caught a couple of nice fish bait fishing in front of the Park once the weather had settled, no action on the worms but power bait proved to be successful with mostly smallish Rainbows, Harry also struggled a bit with his efforts on providing a few small rainbows, the Upper Braemar gang had very mixed results as well with most boats and anglers struggling to make an impact even though the weather improved, as so often is the case a last minute foray on Monday morning proved very successful for those who braved the icy conditions, Jessie Mauger once again excelled and landed 2 very nice Browns on the Black Toad Tassie and Gemma Gair caught a magnificent Brown of 1837 cleaned flicking lures from the bank in front of the Park, well done Gemma, Paul Briggs also managed a nice Brown of 1600 gms, all pictured below.


Still no action on the Lake access track at Braemar linking the Park with the Lake, re-construction of the road could happen any day now, so again anyone thinking of coming to Braemar for a day visit should call ahead for an update, conditions down on the Lake and along the banks remain very slippery and boggy, stay well clear of the lower level banks with your cars, it is your responsibility if you get bogged.

Buckenderra , 55, 36, Y48, 112,

Seven Gates, S10, 125, 5

Tantangara, 125, 75, 96, 5

Reports are coming in that the rainbows are on the chew around Seven gates and frying pan, up around anglers reach both rainbows and browns are still active.

With the lake starting to rise thing should only get better the fish are in good condition and fighting well.

My hot spot would be around Braemer Bay and Anglers Reach.

Tantangara is still rising at a fast rate and the fishing is good with good reports on rainbows and browns but remember before going look at the weather conditions, Worth a look

 

 

 

EUCUMBENE BAIT FISHING

 

Most places around eucumbene are fishing well with worms and chunky cheese power bait we are starting to get more reports on rainbows and in great condition.

 

Best areas are Seven gates, frying pan, Rushes, Anglers Reach and some really good reports from Braemer Bay.
