Rod Allen

The fishing has been very good right across the snowies, eucumbene continues to produce quality brown trout and good numbers of healthy rainbows on all methods.Worms fished on the bottom, mudeyes on top in close during low light periods accounting for lots of fish.fly fishos have been capitolising on some nice weather and doing well with the usual wets like buggers and Mrs Simpsons. Tantangarra also is worth a trip with good reports off the bank as well as in the boat.Jindabyne is starting to fire up with some really big rainbows making an appearance in anglers captures, like eucy, worms ,power bait and mudeyes doing the trick..Lure of the week would be the bullet lure in the 5cm size. The streams have been refreshed with a bit of rain earlier in the week and flowing a bit harder than last week, prolonging the dry fly season just a little bit,but certainly placing them in good stead for the coming summer, however on the right day you will find that the insect activity is enough to warrant a look as my sons found out with some lovely trout on dry fly.

FLY FISHING LAKE EUCUMBENE
Fly fishing is slowly Improving on the lake with some good hatches around most of the bays at the moment we haven’t seen any mudeyes but it won’t be long.
Things have been a little slow up the top end with most fishers doing it hard but better reports coming from the bottom end with some good rainbows and browns in close and out wide with the best time are around 12pm till dark so there’s plenty of fishing to do.
Over at Braemer bay fishing is going well with good reports on the browns and a few rainbows, Best flies are Woolly Buggers Black, Olive,
Middling Bank again this place bring the best out of most fishers with some good reports coming both sides with rainbows and brown coming in with all sizes, Best flies are flashback nymphs, Mrs Simpsons, Woolly Bugger black, brown, olive
Frying Pan “Rushes” thing are going ok with most reports on the rainbows but late in the afternoons then fishing late into the night, Best flies are Woolly buggers, Bead head nymphs,
Seven gates most reports are browns taking woolly buggers large black, brown again late in the afternoon
If you are think about fishing with dry flies Stimulators, Beetles or a Royal wulff with a nymph dropper.

FLY FISHING LAKE JINDABYNE
Jindy hasn’t been bad at all fish are starting to rise everywhere small and big , Best areas to fish are the big shallow bays with plenty of grass that’s where the food is so it’s worth a go before night fall mostly over at the western side of the lake.
Let’s hope this lake keeps going well and if not i think we all will be needing answers from the powers to be??

FLY FISHING TANTANGARA
If your thinking about going up there you have made the right choice the lake is dropping but it’s still fishing well top end has been doing well  good rainbows and browns.
Woolly Buggers, Mrs Simpsons, Woolly Worms

TROLLING LAKE EUCUMBENE
Well the trolling is still going well with most reports coming from the bottom end of the lake “Rushes, Seven Gates, Middling Bank and around Wainui bay and up.
Over at Middling bank best lures are Tassie devils 55,36,48,26,129,PP
Wainui bay Tassie devil ,121,111,112
Rushes bay Tassie devil ,4,125,FLP,130, Rapala spotted dog, Blades,
Seven gates Tassie devil,450,67,4
Middling bank Tassie devil, Y123,Y94,Y05, Bullet lure Fry and Brooke
In the last few days Braemer Bay has really Improved with the tassie devils and Rapala spotted dog Size 5,7,13

TROLLING LAKE JINDABYNE
Trolling has been picking up around jindy with some good fish on the bite up at Kalkite good reports with browns, Brookies and rainbows.
Rapalas, Blades, Bullet and Tassie’s are all going well.
Over around at hatchery bay and reports have been good on tassie’s and spotted dog rapala’s again like Eucumbene try any tassie you should do well yes lake was dropping but it’s steady now and there’s plenty of water running in so if you are after some good fishing this is the time to get to Jindabyne.

 TROLLING TANTANGARA
Trolling is really good up that way with some good reports coming from the top end, Tassie’s, Rapala’s Spotted Dogs and Bullets are the lures to use.
This is the place i would go at the moment yes its dropping but it’s still going gang busters on all lures.
Both gates are open but you can’t drive around the lake as yet.
Overall the fishing is going great.

BAIT FISHING BOTH LAKES
Bait fishing has been the same all winter just amazing fish have been smashing the worms all winter and still going well power bait is doing ok but it’s the worms that are working the best
Most areas are fishing well on both lakes you just need to get out there wind snow or sunshine it’s worth it.
