Gday Alpine Anglers,
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate all our customers on a terrific river season that is drawing to a close at the end of play on Monday June the 11th.
Thredbo river has has been the standout during May and June with decent runs of quality Jindabyne fish, whilst the Euc and Murrumbidgee rivers have had a delayed spawn run with low flows and lake levels contributing to modest catch rates. The lakes have made up for any short comings ...with excellent results coming to all methods.Lake Eucumbene browns have really stacked on condition over the last month as they take advantage of semi dormant yabbies that are being washed out or forced from their temporary homes as the lake receeds and the waves pound around the rocks and destroy the yabby beds forming a dirty turbulent edge, these near helpless yabbies either get mopped up by the browns or pushed up on to bank where the birds pick them off.Concentrating your efforts around these tell tale signs of piles of blue clawed banks and half destroyed dirty water yabby beds with lure bait or fly being a productive way to spend time and find fish.Jindabyne has been equally as terrific with quite a few brood Atlantics and Brooks figuring in anglers bags and with the lakes resident browns and bows firing its been pretty hard to go past this picturesque lake.
So with the closing of 1 door, another 1 opens as the lake season truly begins.Winter fishing on the alpine lakes is a highlight on the calender and as long as you prepare with warm clothing its a great time to focus on the lakes margins in search of that trophy trout while they are in close and on the hunt for tucker.
For more info, tips or reports call or drop in and see us.
Thank you and tight lines
Andrew,Mick,Rod and Kenny

TROLLING AND SPINNING LAKE JINDABYNE

Trolling has been at it’s best at Jindabyne in the last two weeks with the release of over 100 large Brooks and 100 Atlantic Salmon, Released at Poo Bay and around the boat ramp.
Best lures are Tassie Devils, Bullet Lures So if your after that big fish this is the time to get up that way and hunt them down.
Other areas have been Hatchery Bay, Kalkit, Waste point,
Hatchery Bay has been good on the rainbows and brown using bullet lures
Kalkit is fishing well on the tassie devils and plastics.
Spinning has been at it’s best around the lake with Bullet Lures around the boat ramp and poo bay.

TROLLING AND SPINNING LAKE EUCUMBENE

Buckenderra has been doing well using tassie devils and bullet lures
Middling bank Bullet lures and tassie devils 20g

Best places around Jindabyne are, Poo Bay, Hatcher Bay, Waste Point
Best places around Eucumbene are, Seven Gates, Buckenderra, Braemer Bay and Rushes Bay
