Fly Fishing
Lake Jindabyne
Jindabyne has been great in the mornings and there is plenty of good polaroiding opportunities when the weather is good. Searching with a woolly bugger will produce a few nice ones or just wander the bank looking for fish and cast a small wet or nymph at any fish found cruising. There is still a heap of weed in many of the bays that is drawing the fish in to the food that it holds. Best areas are the snowy arm, kalkite, waste point, poo bay, Best flys woolly bugger black, B/H nymphs, remember pick your days and the fishing should be good start walking and you will see some good brown in close. There has been some strong wind about so pick your days early mornings would be the best. The big browns are looking for some nice warm bays so it would be worth a look after them windy days.
Lake Eucumbene
The lake has been a little better in the Buckenderra area with a few good rainbows and browns being taken in the evening. The fish are not coming in for very long, but there have been some good browns and rainbows being caught. . There are still enough of those fat browns around to keep most anglers happy. If you are fishing out off a boat there have been good fish caught close to the shore. Fishing will be very slow after the windy days so get into them big bays thats where you will find the bigger fish. So start looking for some good drop-offs and weedy areas and count down your fly to see where the fish are sitting this is working very well. There has been some good Browns around Buckenderra. Woolly buggers have been working well and black B/H Nymphs are keeping the big fish interested.
Best flies have been woolly buggers, mountain shrimp, fuzzy Wuzzy, woolly worms and bead head nymphs Best areas have been Seven Gates, Cemetery point, Anglers Reach and Buckenderra. the last week the big browns have been moving around buckenderra and getting very excited at the B/H Nymphs black, brown, green.
Lake Tantangara
A good number of fish cruising the edges early and late at present so well worth a look reports that the fish are moving around in the shallows so on a good sunny day this would be the place to go.
Best flys are B/H Nymph and woolly buggers.
If you can get up there it would be worth a fish.
Trolling and Spinning
Jindabyne
Jindabyne has produced few reports this week. There are still some good fish to be caught in Jindabyne but early starts are the key to catching them especially when the weather is super calm. Some nice fish taken trolling around the outside of the weed beds in many of the bays. Blade lures and stiffy lures would do well on the big browns as will the rainbow squidies lures Rapala X-Raps and Jointed minnows are working as well. Still good reports of good fish have been court around the snowy arm and Kalkite. Reports that east Jindabyne is fishing very well
Tassie Devils 48, Y36, Y48, Y82, Y90, YFR, 26, PP, strike pro blades, Rainbow Squidgies x-raps, jointed rapalas small tassies
Eucumbene
Trolling has been good overall with many lure types producing fish. Trout pattern minnows in strike pro blades, Attacks, RMG Scorpions, Rebels, and rainbow Squidgies are great lures to try. Try some of the larger Merlin lures down deep to search out the bigger browns. The boys from Canberra had a good weekend again at buckenderra trolling minnow lures and blades so if you are going trolling get your minnows out of the box you should have a good time. Buckenderra is fishing very well.
Tassie Devils 27, Y36, YFR, 55, Y48, strike pro Blades , x-raps , Jointed Rapalas
Eucumbene Bait fishing
Bait fishing has been fairly good with some nice reports of Rainbows and Browns being taking on power Bait and Grubs. Buckenderra has been fishing well with good Reports of Browns being caught on Grubs and Rainbows on the Power Bait.
Power bait Orange, chunky Cheese, Rainbow and Grubs are the go
Best areas are Buckenderra, Dam wall, Seven Gates,
Jindabyne bait fishing
Bait fishing has been excellent with some good catches of mostly Rainbows in Jindabyne. Power bait and Grubs been the best baits. Areas to look at in Jindabyne are Kalkite, Hatchery Bay, Creel Bay, Sids Bay, Clay Pits, Stinky Bay and Hayshed Bay all reports are coming from East Jindabyne so worth a look At Rushs bay has been fishing very well. Wow what a week we have had here @ Buckenderra it has been busy with school holidays and have had a lot of fisherpersons about.
Trolling at the beginning of the week has been quite but Jay arrived on Saturday trolled in the shallows and caught 25 all nice size and decent weights on Tassie devils. We have Karl that also went out and caught a nice brown 55cm @ 1.74kg with Tassie devil number y48 eucumbene bomber.
Fly fisherman caught a few on Woolly buggers and black nymphs mainly later in the afternoon.
Bank fisherman it has been awesome 1st we had Wendy caught a great brown around Wainui bay 60cm long and 2.8kg in weight on lime power bait and through the week we had good catches on the power bait the favourites orange and chunky cheese most people bagging out most under a kilo and around the 35cm size in length.
Finally Alf and Tony caught a 3.1kg brown @ 75cm in length at 4.10 yesterday afternoon off the bank it was fantastic and they were using lime twist they were over the moon I have a photo attached.
So from Buckenderra happy fishing everyone because they certainly are here.
