Fishing Report Archives:  Print this report Print friendly version

Archive Date: 24/09/2015

Hi Michael,

Thanks for taking my call today and for all the advice you gave me on Saturday morning.  The lures you sold me (Rapala brown in colour with spots; Sebile thin rainbowish coloured minnow) worked very successfully as I ended up with 5 trout – one brook (2kgs cleaned and first brook trout) and four browns (1.2 – 1.6kgs).

I attach a couple of pictures for you.  The only picture I have of a brown was funnily enough caught when I was face timing my brother on the mobile phone.  There was no mobile reception but must have been wi fi so that is how I guess the call was picked up.

My brother and I are heading up your way again for a week from the 27th of September so we will pop in again and touch base with you.

Thanks again for your advice!

We are getting a lot of feed back from the Seven Gates area about fires and rubbish left all over the place.  Please be mindful to take your rubbish with you and clean up after yourself.  Please be sure to carry your PFD & fishing licences as NSW Maritimes are out. Nsw fisheries inspectors are working the Snowy Mountains area during the peak holiday season. So remember if you do not have a current fishing licence and on your person you will be fined. So for the sake of 5 minutes do yourself a favour.

Maritime services are on the lakes, So make sure you water craft are up to par with current safety standards, if you are not sure contact Ph 13 12 56 or website:

Fishing around the lake has been good with good reports form wast point, Kalkite, East Jindy, Hatchery bay, after all the rain things have Improved with the browns and rainbow coming closer to the shore line. Best places to look for are the gully’s seems to be more food around here after the rain, Woolly Buggers , Fuzzy’s, tom Jones, Woolly Worms. As the weather starts to warm up thing will only get better and at the moment that is what Jindy needs and this year looks like it will happen the rainbows are running up the rivers and all the browns are back in the lake so once the rain stops things are going to pick up.

Lake Eucumbene:-

Fishing has been good in all places around the lake with the brown and rainbows most fishers have been catching browns on Woolly buggers and bead head nymphs. Buckenderra has been the place to fish with good reports coming from the park itself. Over at middling bank things are looking really good the lake is rising and the fish are biting many reports have been coming in again the browns have been every active.

If you're looking to catch rainbows try fishing around all the gully’s there seems to be plenty of food around that is were you will find them most rainbow. The rainbows have been over the 45 mark good fish!!

Overall the fishing is good the rainbows are running up the rivers and the browns are biting.

Most wet flies are doing well along with the bead head nymphs looks like it’s going to be a good summer.

LAKE JINDABYNE BAIT FISHING Just gets better and better!!

Bait fishing around Jindabyne has been good with results coming in from most parts off the lake overall the worms have been the pick with some nice browns and rainbows coming out on the power bait the lime twist and lemon have been picking up some good rainbows.
Best areas are poo bay, blow the L.J.H and around at Hatchery bay.
Overall the worm fishing has been at it’s best so if you are heading up that way things are looking up fishing is good for most off the day.
Best Bait worms, worms, worms

Bait fishing is getting better as each week goes by with some really good results coming from top to bottom.
Buckenderra has been good on the worms and power bait but the worms are the pick off the baits.
Frying Pan is doing well on the worms and seven gates is going well on the power bait and worms.
Up at the Dam wall and Braemer bay  the fishing is at it’s best with good reports off rainbows on the worms all rainbows over the 40cm mark.
Best Bait, Worms, Worms, Worms
Buckenderra is fishing at it's best again worms

Hi mate my son Kalyeb wanted to send these photos of two trout he caught on Sunday the biggest on the cast on a CD 7 brook pattern and the smaller on the yellow winged tazzy you sold us thanks for the tip on lures had a great weekend we will stop by next time we are coming through.
Cheers Josh

Most off the trolling has been around 7 am till around 4 pm trolling about 30 meters from the bank and out in the deeper waters with some good results coming in mostly browns with a few rainbows been reported.
Overall the trolling has picked up yes the weather has been badly but looks like it’s doing the tick with the browns moving around move and the rainbows coming in a little closer.
Getting up higher around yens and old Adaminaby things have been picking up with the rainbows and browns most off the fish have been in really good shape. With the brown coming back from the rivers and the rainbows starting to go up the rivers this is where you should start picking up both browns and rainbow so this would be a good time to slow down and find the deeper channels for better results.
Best areas are Yens, Buckenderra, Seven gates, Old Adaminaby and Anglers Reach.
As i said the weather has been bad but the fishing is good!

Trolling has been really good with good reports coming in from top to bottom good reports off rainbows and browns with the lake dropping now things might change well that’s what i thought would happen but with the reports coming in things are still going well the rainbows and browns are still taking the lures. But remember when travelling up that way watch the weather and the snow reports thing can get really bad up that way. But overall the fishing is good.

Well Jindy has been fishing well the rainbows are great and the browns are in good condition as well with all this good weather who needs the snow bring the boat up get on the lake and just sit back and relax and wait for that stike!!!
Most fishers are trolling up around Kalkite and over at waste point and over at Kalkite west with good results.
Most trolling is done about 20 to 30 meters out from shore using tassies and minnows but at the moment i think they would take anything try using the Nat Vibrations lures.
Try not to go fast why you're trolling just at a nice speed walking pace do not be scared to let some line out 30 to 40 meters.
Remember if it’s a good bright day move out into the deeper waters follow the fish slow it down get deeper.
Best places are Kalkite, waste point, Kalkite west, and from the Snow liner up to hatchery bay
